Mayfair Place, despite it’s convenient location in the SW, is not quite the jewel in the Mayfair rough.

The collectively inept rental management will boast about the in-house facilities like the underground parking, overpriced basement laundry, public pool and gym room, all the while guiding the prospective tenant up and down through the floors in sketchy elevators and down dilapidated hallways. Being able to afford the rent is your only qualification.

While only recently choosing to overhaul the appearance of the public areas of the building, the real black eye on this building is the management’s decision process in allowing tenants – as in, there is none.

People interested in a building that coddles criminals and drug addicts should look no further than Mayfair Place.

A few years ago when management was different and the people were nicer, prospective tenants were subject to background and reference checks.  Safe to say this policy has been recently abandoned.

Families and the elderly should steer far clear of this building as no longer are quality tenants the targeted demographic of Mayfair Place. If the roar of Glenmore Trail doesn’t keep you up at night, the ceaseless partying of neighbors left and right, below and above, will surely rob you from rest.

Common sense would indicate that a simple complaint against those breaking city bylaws should stop the problem but this assumption is incorrect. Management will keep their month-to-month money-makers on as long a leash as possible at the expense of their long-term residents – this is a place where loyalty means nothing.

Have a phobia of elevators? Ask anyone in the building and they will tell you that they have indeed been stuck in one of the elevators at least once.  It’s not unusual to see an “Out of Order” sign on one of the elevators, nor is it unusual to wait twenty minutes or more for one to arrive.

Seeing police, fire, or ambulance outside of the building is also a common event. Take a moment to speak to some of the police officers  riding the elevators in the building – they know the place well.

Nevertheless, drifters, drunks, drug addicts and convicted criminals should feel right at home at Mayfair Place. Everyone else should seek residence elsewhere, your family will thank you later.
